Laser Hair Removal in Lahore: Your Questions Answered Honestly

Laser hair removal is one of the most asked-about treatments at CORAL. And it comes with more questions than almost anything else we offer. Is it safe? Does it actually work on Pakistani skin? Is it painful? How many sessions do I need? What does it cost?

Let's answer all of it. Honestly.

Does Laser Hair Removal Work on Pakistani Skin?

Yes — but with an important caveat. Earlier generations of laser technology were developed primarily for fair skin and didn't work safely or effectively on darker skin tones. This led to a lot of bad experiences and scepticism in Pakistani communities.

Modern laser technology has changed this significantly. The right laser, operated by properly trained professionals, works effectively and safely on South Asian skin tones — which range from olive to deep brown. At CORAL, we use equipment appropriate for our clients' skin tones, and our therapists assess each client individually before beginning treatment.

This is why where you go matters enormously. Not every clinic in Lahore has the right equipment or the right training. Ask before you book.

Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?

We won't lie to you: there is a sensation. Most clients describe it as feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin. It's brief and manageable. Some areas (underarms, bikini) are more sensitive than others (legs, arms).

Most people find it completely tolerable. Some find it mildly uncomfortable. Very few find it genuinely painful — and those who do usually have extremely sensitive skin that we'd identify in the consultation and adjust our approach accordingly.

The session is also fast. A small area like the upper lip takes under two minutes. Legs take longer but the time passes quickly.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

This is where we need to be direct with you, because some clinics in Pakistan promise permanent removal in just a few sessions, and this is misleading.

Laser hair removal works by targeting hair follicles in their active growth phase. At any given time, only a percentage of your hair is in the active phase — which is why you need multiple sessions to target all the follicles. The industry standard for the full treatment course is typically 6 to 8 sessions, spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart.

After completing a full course, the vast majority of clients see permanent, significant reduction in hair. Not every single hair will be gone permanently for every person — but the reduction is dramatic and lasting, and maintenance sessions once or twice a year are often sufficient thereafter.

Is It Safe?

When done correctly, by a trained therapist, with appropriate equipment, laser hair removal is very safe. The risks — burning, hyperpigmentation, changes in skin texture — are associated with incorrect settings, untrained operators, or using the wrong laser for a client's skin tone.

At CORAL, your therapist will: - Assess your skin tone and hair colour before your first session - Test a small patch of skin before treating a larger area - Use settings appropriate for your specific skin type - Give you clear aftercare instructions to follow between sessions

What Should You Avoid Before and After Each Session?

Before laser: - Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment (do not wax or thread — the hair root needs to be present) - Avoid sun exposure for two weeks before treatment - Remove any fake tan or self-tanner

After laser: - Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks after treatment and wear SPF on treated areas - No waxing or threading between sessions - Avoid hot showers, saunas, or swimming pools for 48 hours post-treatment
